Spy the Lie - Philip Houston, Mike Floyd, Susan Carnicero, Don Tennant, Michael Floyd
Verdict: 👍👍 👍 👍
I have bought several copies of this book and have shared with some of my close friends- So would not hesitate in recommending it.
Its one of those books that everyone should read, as it teaches you how to detect deception , a skill we all need to have in our back pocket.
The deception-detection methodology they have built up as they state has its roots in their polygraph-examination experience the gained as CIA Operatives.
The book goes through a lot of their experiences to make a point e.g Ronald and the trunk of Bibles p45 where they state – “a deceptive person may respond to an allegation with a truthful statement, often one that casts himself in a highly favorable light. Its what we call a “Convince” vs "convey" situation.
Each Chapter begins with some classic quotes – My favorite is found in chapter 11 –
“He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual " – Thomas Jefferson p139
