21 Lessons for the 21st Century - Yuval Noah Harari

ISBN: 978-1-78733-087-0
Verdict👍👍👍👍

One of those books best read when you have some free leisure time   and maybe over a glass of red wine 🍷?

I loved this book with some great insights and Yuval’s thoughts on a multitude of subjects, AI, Politics, Immigration employment in 2050 etc. etc. and is structured into 5 parts;
  1. The Technological Challenge
  2. The Political Challenge
  3. Despair and Hope
  4. Truth
  5. Resilience

Bits of the book especially caught my attention e.g. ;
 "many capitalist keep repeating the mantra of free markets and economic growth, irrespective of realities on the ground" (p210)

In the section - Once a lie, always the truthI found myself underlying the following , so I thought I would share.

Joseph Goebbels, The Nazi propaganda maestro and perhaps the most accomplished media-wizard of the modern age. allegedly explained his method succinctly by stating that ‘A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth’. In Mein Kampf Hitler wrote that “the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly- it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over’. Can any present-day fake-news peddler improve on that?

This book is a lovely read which makes you consider so many facets of life - so I would recommend reading if you have the time
